Importing by CTF is the recommended way to import your pupils as the data stored is already in the recommended format as defined by the DfE and will be accepted in the NOA portal.
CTF type
The required data to import is
- UPN
- First name
- Surname
- DOB
- Sex
- Year group
To capture these fields, we suggest selecting either a partial CTF by year group as this will automatically contain the year group or a full CTF without assessment data.
There is value in exporting a full CTF without assessment data as the extra learner characteristics included in this can be used to filter data in the reports.
A partial CTF -minimal will fail the import as it does not contain the year group which is a mandatory field.
MIS | Partial- minimal | Partial by year group | Full | Full with assessment data | Link to provider support |
Sims | No | Yes | Yes | No | |
Arbor | No | Yes - as contains year group | Yes | No
Scholarpack | No | Yes - as contains year group | Yes | No
Integris | No |

No table is displayed when you have selected your file
If, when you import the CTF into the NOA portal, you do not see a table confirming the import summary, have a look at whether you can export from your MIS using different options in the table above.
It is normally because a CTF type has been selected that is not compatible with our system such as a full CTF that includes assessment data.
If you are unable to resolve you may need to consider importing your pupils using excel instead.
Destination
To export the data out of your MIS you will need to enter a destination.
MIS | Destination |
Sims | Destination LA/other - select England |
Arbor | Select Unknown |
Scholarpack | Do not need to enter destination details |
Integris | Select own school name |
