Recommended settings for Microsoft Edge

Modified on Wed, 21 Aug at 3:52 PM

If using Microsoft Edge as your browser, we recommend disabling the Copilot and the mini menu on text selection.

This is recommended to disable any A.I. capability within Edge that could aid your learners with their written answers, spelling and grammar and affect the quality of their response.

Disable the Copilot

  • Click on the ... three dots menu icon to the right-hand side of the tool bar.

  • Select settings and Languages in the menu that displays in the left-hand side of the screen.

  • Switch the toggle to off against collaborate with Copilot as you write on the web.

Disable the mini menu

In Microsoft Edge, a mini menu can appear when selecting text.

The mini menu appears as below and covers the highlighter tool which is a feature learners can use to highlight sections of the text.

We recommend disabling this mini menu to avoid any confusion for learners.

To disable it:

  • Click on the three dots at the top right in Edge.
  • Select Appearance in the side menu.
  • Scroll down to Context menus.
  • Set the toggle to Off against Show mini menu when selecting text.
