What is a percentile rank?

For the demo acc, the assessments are for example only and have not been trialled and standardised. All standardisation data provided is mocked up and for illustrative purposes only.



Some of the reports show the percentile rank of the learner. For example, the Individual attainment report and Attainment – all learners report. 

 

The percentile rank shows the percentage of learners in the nationally representative sample that the individual learner performed as well as or better than in an assessment.  

 

Below is an example taken from the Individual attainment report. 

 

 

  

In this example, Abby Dean has a percentile rank of 68. This means that she did as well as or better than 68% of the learners in the nationally representative sample who took the Year 3 Autumn Reading assessment. Out of the national sample, 32% will have performed better than Abby.
