How to access the optional teacher-led practice tests:
1. Create a demo learner
- We recommend each teacher creates their own demo learner.
- Select Administration from the left-hand menu and then select Learners. This opens the Learner Management page.
- Select Add.
- Complete the mandatory fields (marked with *). We suggest naming the learner something you will be able to remember later, and not confuse with real learners, such as “Demo Learner”.
- Allocate the demo learner your Class name so they are visible when you assign them to the practice test.
- When you are finished select Save.
2. Allocate the demo learner to the practice test
- Select Trials from the left-hand menu and then select Allocate learners to an assessment.
- Select either the Maths or Reading Teacher Led Practice Test from the option cards and choose Select learners.
- Find your demo learner in the list of learners and select them by ticking the box next to their record. You may wish to use the search function to help you do this.
- Select Review selection.
- On the next screen, select Confirm.
- Make a note of the passcode generated for your demo learner. You can return to this screen at any time by selecting Trials in the left-hand menu and then View passcodes.
3. Accessing the practice test
- When you are ready to lead this activity with your class, load the learner portal. You may have already created a shortcut as part of your preparations for participating in the trial, or you can find a link to it in the top right-hand corner of the home page.
- Enter the passcode for the demo learner and select Start test.
- Review the practice questions with your class.
If you have more than one group or class taking part in a trial for the same subject, and you want to use the teacher-led practice test for each group, you will need to reset the test status.
Please note: The practice materials for Years 5 and 6 are identical. For Year 5 learners taking the maths test, teachers do not need to demonstrate the long division question as there are no long division questions in the Year 5 tests. The long division question is the final question in this practice test and should be demonstrated with Year 6 learners.
