How to access teacher marking and verification

Before accessing teacher marking, the learner selection must be chosen. This can be done from the home screen by selecting the button in the Learner selection box.

In the example below the Year 3 lions class is selected.

There are then two ways of accessing teacher marking from the NOA home screen:

Select the NFER Online Assessments button in the left-hand menu;

Select the Marking test selection link in the Assessment information box.

If the NFER Online Assessments button is selected, it will bring up a sub-menu.

Select Marking from this menu.

From both routes, the Test selection screen will open.

This shows all the tests taken by the chosen learner selection and the marking status for each of these tests – Not started, Started or Complete.

Use the filter button to filter the assessments by the Marking status. When filters are selected the filter button will turn blue with a number to indicate how many.

It is only possible to select one test to mark at a time.

Once a test is selected, the Question selection button will open the Question selection screen.
There is also the Mark scheme button which opens a screen with all the teacher scored and autoscored (verify) mark schemes for the selected test.
The reading text button opens the reading text for any selected reading test. If no test has been selected, a warning box will indicate this.

The example below shows the Question selection screen. All the questions that require teacher marking or verification for autoscoring will be displayed in the table.

Autoscored questions for which verification is unnecessary, are not shown. The table shows the marking method for each question alongside the marking status. For the autoscored (verify) questions this will always be ‘complete’ and 100% as these will be marked automatically. It is up to the teacher whether they wish to check and confirm any of these.

Once an autoscored (verify) question has been verified, the Question and the Verified button can be selected which will change the status in the Verified column to help keep track of verified questions. Teacher scored questions are not available to be shown as verified as they must be scored.

Use the filter button to filter the questions by Marking method or Marking status.
Alternatively, starting to type a method or status in the search box, will display the relevant questions.

Only one question can be selected at a time.

If a Teacher scored question is selected, the Confirm button will open the Score question screen, starting with the first learner alphabetically.
If an Autoscored (verify) question is selected the Summary screen for that question will open first to allow a choice of which learner responses to verify (see Viewing the marking summary).
From the Summary screen the Score question button can be selected (see Score question screen layout and Teacher scoring or verifying questions for more information).
