What to do to get started on NOA

Modified on Mon, 2 Sep at 2:33 PM

Please note that demo account customers should not create a CTF with their own school's learner data nor import it into the system. This article provides information on the steps to follow to get set up on NOA for customers who have purchased tokens or subscriptions.

This article covers the steps you need to complete to get started on NOA and prepare for learners to take an assessment. Each step is linked to individual knowledge articles, which provide a more detailed description and further information on each process.

  • Use the link in your welcome email to log into NOA.
  • Set up a shortcut for the learner portal URL to enable learners to access the system easily. You can find your establishment’s learner portal URL in the top right-hand corner of the NOA homepage. This is unique to your school.
  • Add additional staff by selecting Administration, Staff, then Add (Users with Establishment Administrator rights only).
  • Ask your School Admin to create a CTF for learners who will take assessments.
  • Import the CTF to set up your learners by selecting Administration, Learners, then Import (Users with Establishment Administrator rights only).
  • Add your learners to a class by selecting Class names. This is particularly important if you have more than one class taking assessments (Users with Establishment Administrator rights only).
  • Set a learner selection by choosing Change learner selection from the NOA homepage to work with a specific group of learners, such as a class.
  • Allocate learners to an assessment by selecting NFER Online Assessments and then Allocate learners to an assessment and following the onscreen instructions.
  • Generate and print the learner passcodes. You can do this once you have allocated your learners and can return to the page by selecting NFER Online Assessments and then View passcodes.

You are now ready to start an assessment with your learners.

  • Find out more about the Maths and Reading assessments.

  • Show the familiarisation materials to your class. This can be completed as a whole class activity via the Establishment portal by selecting NFER Online Assessments and then Familiarisation materials.
  • Ask learners to access the learner login via the shortcut you have set up and shared with them.
  • Distribute the learner passcodes.
  • Ask your learners to log in to the learner portal by entering their unique passcode.
  • When you are ready to begin, ask learners to select ‘Start test’ to commence the assessment.

The following video takes you step by step through how to get started.
